Science

I want people to understand that the solution is in everybody’s hands. It’s true when people say, we don’t need one person to do it perfectly, we need millions to do it imperfectly.

Ben Lecomte

Ben works with scientists and researchers at universities, institutions and NASA.

Thanks to Ben’s swimming pace, the expedition is a unique opportunity for scientists to collect a high definition dataset. With the help of a science team on land, Ben and his crew will track the movements of big debris, tagging and collecting as much as they can on the way.

The crew will collect marine debris, microplastics and microfibers, as well as biological samples. Adding to the previous expedition samples, this collection will complete the first trans-pacific dataset on plastic pollution and will help scientists learn more about its consequences on marine life and human health.
