Freeze dried tasting

We are trotting along quite nicely at the moment.

A few days ago we had a bit of a lull in the wind in which the brave were afforded a swim in the cold pacific ocean (19*c). We are now seeing speeds ranging from 15-25 kts with occasional gusts of 30kts. Today we had a sail change from Yankee 1 to Yankee 2. Along with 1 reef in the main and the stay’cle up, Disco is feeling balanced. The winds are expected to continue to back on us which will lead us to gybe south for a bit.

Each day we have been plugging away with repairs and improvments to make disco our new home. For the last two days we have been giving the LYOFOOD freeze dried food a go, determining what we like, can alter and what does not suit our taste, in preparation for the expedition. The meat lovers seem to be keen on the beef stroganoff while the vegetarians are happy with nettle curry. The spinach farfalle can hit the road, Jack.

That’s all for now, folks. Back to enjoying the big blue sky and the endless ocean.

Cheers,

Melissa

  1. That’s pretty chilly water without a wetsuit! Did you see anything while you were in the water? I’ve asked Ben to look for plankton while he is swimming, but any other observations you could make would be great as well.

  2. Way to go Ben and crew!! Sending support and admiration from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada!!!
