[DAY 16] Rain shower

It was again the same weather situation this morning, I had to swim upwind and against the waves. But it turned out that it would not be the biggest problem. The rain had started to pick up and Maks and Jo had to bail out the rainwater as well as the water from the waves breaking into the RHIB. The storm was picking up along with the rain, too much water got on the RHIB by the battery banks and created a short.

They felt the electric pulse when they touched the inflated sides. The electric engine stopped working. At the same time, the waves were growing and breaking which made it too dangerous for a kayak to pace me. Once we got back on the deck of Seeker I wrapped myself with a survival blanket to stay warm and enjoyed the rain pouring on me.

Even though I was disappointed with the situation I felt a deep feeling of completeness rising in me, and wanted to feel the rain on my body. So I decided to strip down naked and take my shower under the natural rain. This felt fantastic, so liberating.

  1. Ahh, feeling the embrace of the rain…. tapping into the freedom within.

“Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.” ~ Langston Hughes

    Blessed be your journey!

  2. Well done, Ben! Following every log! Thanks again!

Question: how many wet suits you have on board? And how do you dry a wetsuit you’ve used considering the weather conditions?

Kudos to your crew who are there to support you, research and assist in the journey. How’s the crew feeling on the RHIB?

Well done everyone! Very proud of you all!

  3. I am so inspired by you, Ben, and your team! There are many of us cheering you and supporting you along this incredible journey. Stay focused and know that you are not swimming alone!
