[DAY 127] Engine success

This morning as we were sailing toward our swim point some pilot whales came very close the bow of the boat and stayed with us for few minutes. Their dorsal fins are amazingly big compared to the size of their body. On one of them, the fin had been damaged, a big portion was missing. They stayed with us just long enough to give us time to get the camera out but not long enough to get our swimming equipment and join them in the water.

Because of yesterday’s weather conditions, we were far away from the swim point and we could only use the sails to get to it, our engine was still not working.
It was a clear breezy day and I took this opportunity to do some laundry. I don’t use a lot of clothes, only boxer shorts and tee shirts, the rest of the time I wear a wetsuit.

After hanging my clothes, I went below deck, Yoav and Brian were working on the engine, looking for the electrical problem. Suddenly we heard a noise that we hadn’t heard in a while, it sounded like victory. The engine was back in service. We all clapped and congratulated Yoav and Brian. Brian had been emailing his dad back and forth about the issue and finally found the defective part, a battery switch.
I would like to send my deepest gratitude to Brian’s dad for not giving up on us and Brian for his determination.

Even though by the time we got to the swim point I was only able to swim two hours, today was a great day.
