Huge Waves, Bad Weather & Diet

DAY 15

It is July 30, and Ben Lecomte and the Falbala have logged more than 675 miles since leaving Kalmus Beach in Hyannis, Mass. Now that the team has hit the Gulf Stream, Ben is logging close to 100 miles each day. Their current position is 39° North by 56° West.

Ben reports, “The rough seas and bad weather are taking a bit of a toll on me. Today I had to swim behind the boat, because the waves kept tossing me against the side.” Lecomte also noted an interesting change in his diet. The self-proclaimed choco-holic has been craving (of all things) only salty foods…bring on the chips, pasta with cheese and the like. Too bad, the more than 3 cases of Snickers and Milky Ways that were loaded on for the trek have not even been touched.

With more than 675 miles behind him, Ben is approximately 1/5 of the way into his fantastic journey. As for being on schedule, his estimated arrival on the shores of Brest, France still holds for mid October.
