Day 29
It is day 29, August 13, and Ben is in much better spirits since deciding to head for the Azores, a group of islands in the North Atlantic approximately 800 miles west of Portugal.
“I am still swimming, though not quite as much. I was in the water this morning and I felt pretty good, but now I’m going to rest before heading back in this afternoon.” He will make a final decision on whether to continue onto his orginal destination of Brest, France, after his arrival to the Azores (on or about Tuesday of next week).
Ben truly appreciates and sends his thanks to the many people who have sent emails with messages of support and encouragement from all over the world.
His motivation is definitely returning — he said in part from all the emails — and is confident he can safely complete the approximate 500 mile swim to the Azores. What he decides to do from there is yet to be determined.
